Welcome Cougar Fans!
The Ventura Cougars are excited and anxious to get back on the field for the 2015 season to defend our 2013, 2014 Back to Back Channel League Championships. Our ultimate goal is to play 14 games and win our last game of the year! For this to happen we must prepare and win daily not only on the field and in the weight room, but in all areas of our lives. In January, we started in the weight room at 6:00am to insure our bodies are prepared for 14 games, and also to strengthen our mental game as well. The spring and summer workouts allow our players to learn schemes and how to be better team mates. Our players must be the “uncommon” to be champions. It’s the “uncommon” who must love the preparation that goes along with only being guaranteed 10 games. This year the Black and Gold traditions will be stronger than ever and all of our players must rise up to be true leaders and positive contributors to our football program and community. Playing with our “Home Grown” student athletes give the Cougars a opportunity to continue building its own “Cougar Family Lifestyle.”
On Offense, I promise to be explosive with our hurry up, no huddle scheme. This year we have play makers that will give the fans something special to watch. On defense, we will continue to play physical and work to take the will and desire out of our opponents. Special teams will be filled with guys flying around making big hits and scoring to insure we win all three phases of the game.
I believe in each and every one of the young men that will be wearing the Black and Gold for our program this year. They all have the taste of being champions and also the feeling of coming up short of our ultimate goal in 2014. Our program needs to strive to higher successes. We cannot allow ourselves to be the same year after year. If we do that, we are not getting better. This year all coaches will challenge our young men and we will succeed with taking on a tougher more powerful preseason schedule. This schedule will help prepare us for adversity that may arise during our league and playoff run.
Thanks for all the continued support. I look forward to seeing all of you on the field after the games.
